A great leader once said that the basic philosophy, spirit and drive of an organization have far more to do with its relative achievements than do technological or economic resources. But they are however transcended by how strongly the people in the organization believe in its basic precepts and how faithfully they carry them out.
As true as this is for the success of a corporation, it is even more for the individual. The most important single factor in individual success is COMMITMENT. Commitment ignites action. To commit is to pledge yourself to a certain purpose or line of conduct. It also means practicing your belief consistently for it is the state of being bound emotionally and intellectually to a course of action or to another person or persons.
Technically, it is defined as an agreement to perform a particular activity at a certain time in the future. There are therefore two fundamental conditions for commitment. The first is having a sound set of belief and the second is faithful adherence to those beliefs.
“Every walk of our life seeks commitment – to our spouse, our children, our parents, our colleagues, to the organization we work for and the society we live in.When you enter marriage, you are committed to your spouse. when you are join an organization, they seek your commitment.
Student are committed to the rules and regulation of their school. Parents seek commitment from their children. Business and employers requires commitment from their employees. Rulers, President and Leaders of nations make their commitment to the country.
Commitment is the real driving force in anything we need to accomplish, however, very often, we find ourselves breaking our commitments.
How does one practice commitment therefore? Why is commitment broken sometimes? It is never easy to effectively demonstrate commitment to others, to the organization’s basic principles and to one’s self.
The truth is, demonstrating commitment is hard work. Wavering commitment is usually seen as no commitment at all. The only way to achieve commitment is through determination and persistence. Genuine commitment stands the test of time. SO, probably the best description of commitment is “persistence with a purpose”.
We know the price of breaking our commitment but often we tempt to ignore it because the circumstances around us compel us to break our commitment.
Everyone has a customer and is himself a customer to someone else. Customer are usually thought of as external to the organization but they need your product or services A question worth asking therefore is: “How much are others willing to pay for my work?” The price your customers are willing to pay you is measured by the value they perceive you to have.

Besides serving customer, all organizations target specific goals or result. Given the large number of demands placed on all of us, it is important concentrate on achieving the most important goals and objectives. Commitment to result is largely determined by how clear priorities are, what actions get rewarded, and what risk are being taken to improve intended result.
The quality of the organization’s commitment to customer and result is largely based upon the quality of its commitment to its people who ultimately serve the customer and are responsible for achieving goals and objectives.Commitment to people is largely the product o treating people with respect, challenging then, and giving then effective feedback on how they are doing.
Paying the price that commitment commands has payoffs worth the cost-a reputation for integrity and, even more importantly, the commitment of others in return. Commitment is a two-way street. You only get it if you are willing to give it. Thus, when one commits himself to an agreement, he has to exert his best effort in everything he does to achieve it.
One has to faithfully abide with the agreement he has put himself in specially when committing to an organization which provides for everything financially. As a result of that agreement and commitment, it has become your bread and butter not only fir yourself but also for your family. One must have to deeply realize the goodness the organization has spent to help you be prepared for the challenges in life.
We are living in this world where commitment is a necessity to survive in order to have a healthy relationship and be successful in life. We need to maintain that relationship by fulfilling the commitments we made in out life. this is the only way to succeed. the only way.
Albert Einstein once said: “It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.”
