Further to POEA Memorandum Circular No. 02, Series of 2010 and POEA Memorandum Circular No. 11,

Series of 2011, all seafarers including those who have already attended the Anti-Piracy Awareness Seminar in 2010 are required to attend the Anti-Piracy Awareness Seminar’s enhanced module jointly crafted by the Maritime Training Council and the National Maritime Polytechnic which was endorsed by POEA for adoption and implementation.

As previously implemented, certificates of attendance shall no longer be required for contract processing. However, all Manning Agencies shall submit a monthly report of their seafarers who have attended the said seminar using the prescribed module indicating their date of attendance.

POEA also reiterated that the Anti-Piracy Awareness Seminar shall be conducted in-house by the accredited and authorized trainers of Manning Agencies for their departing seafarers.
